Steps – 2019 – Retreat

5th to 11th of July, 2019

Organization by Dr. Sönke Bartling, Denis Parfenov

This is the steps working / hacking retreat.

We will build a decentralized research infrastructure, all the way from basic infrastructure to data acquisition, post-processing and assessment. All as a proof-of-real-world-concept of the Web3-stack in the context of science and knowledge creation. We will publish and share our experiences and results, share them as How-Tos, VLOGs and old fashioned publication. By itself this event can be seen as a decentralized research project.

We will simulate a whole research workflow. We will evaluate how novel incentive structures that could become possible through blockchain could foster result verification and early data sharing. We will simulate a cryptoeconomy build-up around ideas, results and publications. We will experiment with concepts such as self-owned documents, continuous economies and DAOs to organize research.

  Fri, 5th Sat, 6th Sun, 7th Mo, 8th Tues, 9th Wed, 10th Thur, 11 – Open Day
Morning Overview, get to know each other Getting set up, Setup IPFS, pinning files Smart contracts, ERC 20, ERC 223 tokens, send tokens around Connect to the Internet of research things using ARDUINO based sensor platform Data sharing, micro publications, resource distribution, new deals on data (OCEAN Protocol, Enigma), intro to trusted computing environements Token bonding curves, ICOs for research projects, token curated registries for research ideas and results OPEN day, presentations, conclusions, wrap up, shooting Vlog
